Slow down warning system for safe highways

Early warning

The statistics tell the story: brake lights have limited benefits when it comes to highway safety. The millions of collisions that occur every year can be blamed, in part, on the fact that drivers learn of a hazard only once it affects the car directly in front of them…often, when it’s too late. This project proposed a slowdown warning system that would notify drivers of upcoming hazards with plenty of time to react. Since only a fraction of cars would be equipped with such a system initially, it is significant that even such a partial-usage scenario for this technology would be able to prevent accidents significantly.
