Rapid detection of pathogenic bacteria

Year 2016
Project team Timothy Swager and Alexander Klibanov with Kent Harvey, Myles Herbert and Qifan Zhang

Fighting foodborne illnesses

Foodborne illnesses can lead to human sufferings, expensive medical treatments, lawsuits, government sanctions, product recalls, tarnished corporate reputations, and sometimes even result in death. This project will develop an inexpensive biosensor able to rapidly detect multiple types of pathogenic bacteria in food and water to prevent widespread infection.
