Separating chemicals
Food and beverage, oil and gas, industrial waste treatment and biopharmaceutical industries separate chemicals either through distillation or using membranes. There are many applications where current membranes would foul, or would not tolerate high temperatures above 40°C or harsh chemicals. Using novel materials, this project is developing robust, anti-fouling ultrafiltration membranes with high thermal and chemical stability. These membranes would lower manufacturing costs and save energy.
