Saving citrus orchards
Huanglongbing (HLB), or citrus greening disease, is incurable and threatens the survival of the U.S. citrus industry. Current detection strategies are costly, time-intensive, and inaccurate. Early detection would allow for mitigation strategies that would save orchards. This project is developing a systemic detection system that senses concentration changes of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the early stages of HLB, when trees are asymptomatic.
