Momentum Grants

Jointly with the MIT Health and Life Sciences Collaborative (MIT HEALS), and the MIT Climate Project, the Deshpande Center offers Momentum Grants.
These grants support research and translation to accelerate promising technologies toward real-world impact. Each award provides up to $125,000 in funding over one year, along with dedicated mentorship from Deshpande Center Catalysts to help teams define plans for further technology development and commercialization milestones.
Two grant tracks are available:
Focused on technologies that address critical challenges in health and the life sciences and align with the core mission of HEALS. Ideal proposals should break disciplinary silos, ask new and ambitious scientific questions, develop solutions to problems or bottlenecks, harness cutting-edge technologies, and have the potential to transform health and life sciences.
Focused on solutions to critical problems or bottlenecks in the global climate response where innovative, cross-disciplinary approaches are needed. Proposals must feature a solution that relates to more than one of the six Missions of the Climate Project and have the potential to deliver impact at scale.
Both tracks prioritize interdisciplinary collaboration and a clear path to impact and implementation.
